Hey! Get back here and write something. Well, if you are gone, I'll miss your reviews.
I too will miss your reviews as they were always well-written and entertaining as hell but I completely respect your need for a break. You should never be doing a blog because you have to - only because you want to.
Everytime you try and get out... We pull you back in! I'll still be checking out your work over at Ferdy on Films, but just in case something not appropriate for that site strikes your fancy to review, I'll be keeping this on my blogroll indefinitely. Thanks for all the work that you have done here, it's been really enjoyable and enlightening.
Fear not, amigos, TIR will be back at some point in the near future, but I'm taking a much-needed reviewing break after writing well over 200,000 words for it and Ferdy since the start of the year.
I would've dropped Cinema Styles a long time ago if not for hiatuses. My longest was a full month and a half over a year ago and in this last month, not counting posts that say "I won't be posting" I've posted twice. Enjoy the time away.
I would like to join the chorus awaiting your return. I realize that you will cheerfully refund the unused portion of the ticket cost, but what you provide is beyond price. Seriously, I love your film choices, and your insightful analysis. Have a nice break and come back soon.
Gracias, Bev, Greg.
I am stunned to hear this news, though I know it's probably a temporary adjournment. You write for many blogs, and your work is on the highest level, so you do need a breather for sure. 200,000 words? Incredible. And you have your English blog going as well.Well, enjoy the vacation from here. You've that and more.
I've only just found your blog (and Ferdy on Films). I've stated to others (even those who I know wouldn't care) that you've become my favorite film writer, not the least because you treat every movie you analyze with utter respect. I can scroll through both sites and find deep, loving analysis on In the Loop, Ghost of Frankenstein, 400 Blows, Jason and the Argonauts, Die Hard, A Serious Man, It! The Terror From Beyond Space... It's like an astute validation of all my indulgences. I'll be sad to hit refresh and not see anything new for awhile, but you've left me quite a bit of reading to do.
Sam: 231,466 words to be precise. Oy. I don't count the English One-O-Worst stuff, because most of that was written for other purposes. And that's not however counting my stuff for GreenCine and Fandor...Double oy. Vacation? Man, I wish. I'm redrafting a novel, lucky me.Robert: that's a very serious compliment and I thank you very much for that comment. Have fun reading, and I'll see about providing some new stuff when the neurones return to full charge.
